Hello from Guangzhou, our last China stop

It's 5:05 pm China time on Sunday which means it is 4:05 am CT on Sunday morning.

We spent our last night in Guilin on the walking street. We bought some Chinese cartoon DVDs and some music for the car. We also became quite a sight - about 20 people were gathering around the strollers, just looking at the Americans with the babies.

We went to Chinese buffet at the Universal hotel. Our guide XiXi brought us our developed pictures. The foster mom took lots of good pictures, including one of Amy on a scooter with her FM (yes, a motor scooter...) We also have pictures of her on the bed, with her little pillow next to the big pillows, so she definitely slept with them. These pictures are priceless.

Here are some pictures of Amy and Mark that night in Guilin:

The next morning, we caught an 8:00 am flight to Guangzhou. Amy's first flight was great, as the passenger behind us amused her greatly. She sucked on her pacifier at take off and landing so there were no ear pressure problems.

We arrived in Guangzhou and had to get to our appointments for the day. Amy had her Visa photos taken (and didn't cry at all!) and screamed her lungs out during the medical exam. None of our travel mates had heard her cry before, so they were quite surprised at the lungs on this baby.

The medical exam was frenetic and unorganized, but that's par for the course. I was happy to leave.

We spent the afternoon acclimating to the White Swan...the heaven of Chinese hotels. Seriously. We ordered from Danny's Bagels for dinner and had some American lasagne. Nothing steamed in this meal! We also had M&M cookies, which served my craving for chocolate. We also got a king size bed, which was nice as Amy could sleep between us.

I'll finish this day's report up at a cheaper location as the White Swan is expensive!
