April 15 - Beijing to home

We've decided to return to China for a quick visit. We want to give Amy a good impression of China before she gets impressions of her own from other kids, TV, etc. - something real for her to say why she likes (or doesn't) China. And it will be a fun adventure for all of us!

We are flying from Newark to Beijing over the North pole. We are spending a few days in Beijing and flying to Nanning, the capital of Amy's province. From Nanning, we're taking the bus to Guiping to meet her orphanage and foster families. After Guiping, we're busing it to Guilin for a trip down the Li River. We'll fly back to Beijing for one night and then home!

We're using Always and Forever Adoption Homeland Tours.

During our wait, I collected pictures of children from the orphanage to give to the staff there. I also made a huge picture book of Amy for her foster family.

I also organized a fundraiser through Love Without Boundaries. The Guiping SWI asked for assistance purchasing medical equipment such as an oxygen cylinder, blood pressure gauge, blood sugar gauge, etc. They have estimated it will cost 20,000-30,000 Yuan or approximately $2500-$4000 US. Donations can be made online (specify 'Guiping Medical Equipment' in the notes). If you would prefer to send a check you can make it payable to Love Without Boundaries - be sure to write 'Guiping Medical Equipment' on the check - and mail it to Love Without Boundaries, 306 S Bryant, Suite C, PMB 145, Edmond, OK 73034. And it's tax-deductible!

We're packing and the cat is helping.
